There’s a fire
across the street,
screaming sirens,
wailing children,
people trying to save
possessions.
Then I see two men
in top hat and tails
hop into a
passing limousine,
oblivious to the chaos,
the smoke, the destruction.
I looked to where
they had stood,
and wondered what
the occasion was
while watching the
fire across the street.
